No dia 22 de Março de 2017, acompanhei meu mestre Julio Camacho num importante evento acadêmico na USP, no qual ele ministrou com mestria uma palestra sobre Ving Tsun Kung Fu durante a aula inaugural de Arte Marcial Chinesa, Cultura e Movimento do ano letivo de 2017, por convite do professor Walter Roberto Correia (docente responsável pela Disciplina do Departamento de Pedagogia do Movimento do Corpo Humano da Escola de Educação Física e Esporte da Universidade de São Paulo).  |

Durante a aula, na qual esteve presente um heterogêneo grupo de alunos atentos, composto por graduandos e profissionais já estabelecidos em suas áreas, pude notar que, além da curiosidade em relação ao que seria uma palestra ministrada por um mestre de artes marciais, foi quase unânime a surpresa estampada nos olhares e expressada nas questões. Era inesperada tamanha riqueza no que foi explanado sobre ambos os temas que orientaram as duas horas de fala: a terminologia por de trás dos ideogramas 功夫 (Kung Fu) e a genealogia da fundadora de nosso estilo, Yim Ving Tsun. Assim fiquei com a nítida impressão de que inúmeros conceitos errôneos do senso comum sobre cultura e marcialidade foram desconstruídos do imaginário do público tão interativo.

Foi de grande enriquecimento estar em uma das mais importantes instituições de ensino do país, dentre as cem mais bem rankeadas no mundo, graças ao seu dedicado corpo docente e seu imponente e impecável campus (que nos foi apresentado com orgulho pelo nosso zeloso anfitrião, que fez questão de mostrar as unidades e equipamentos indispensáveis para condução das disciplinas ali transmitidas). O evento marcou a metade de uma semana intensa de atividades que mais uma vez, por meio da interação e planejamento que uma vida Kung Fu promove, seguiu de forma a tudo dar certo e chegarmos à tempo no aeroporto, mesmo com uma agenda apertada, numa cidade que não perdoa deslocamentos de última hora graças ao trânsito.

Fica então homenagem e gratidão ao nosso anfitrião, que nos deu a honra de participar de tão importante momento da trajetória do meu mestre, e deixou em aberto o convite para outras oportunidades.

The Kung Fu goes to the university

On March 22, 2017, I accompanied my Si Fu Julio Camacho at an important academic event at USP in which he masterfully lectured on Ving Tsun Kung Fu during the inaugural class of Chinese Martial Art, Culture and Movement of the 2017 school year, by invitation of the Professor Walter Roberto Correia (lecturer responsible for the Discipline of the Department of Pedagogy of the Movement of the Human Body of the School of Physical Education and Sport of the University of São Paulo).
During the lesson, which was attended by a heterogeneous group of attentive students composed by graduates and already established professionals, I could note that in addition to the curiosity about what would be a lecture given by a martial arts master, it was almost unanimous the surprise written in their eyes and expressed in their questions. Such richness in what was explained on both themes that guided the two hours of speech was unexpected: the terminology behind the ideograms 功夫 (Kung Fu) and the genealogy of our style founder, Yim Ving Tsun. Therefore I was left with the distinct impression that numerous common sensical misconceptions about culture and martiality were deconstructed from the imaginary of such an interactive audience.

It was of great enrichment to be in one of the most important educational institutions of our country, ranked between the hundred best in the world, thanks to its dedicated faculty and imposing and impeccable campus (which was proudly presented to us by our caring host that made a point of showing units and equipment indispensable for conducting the disciplines transmitted therein). The event marked the middle of an intense week of activities that, once again, through the interaction and planning promoted by Kung Fu, followed in a way that everything went well and we arrived at the time in the airport, even with a tight schedule, in a city that doesn’t forgive last-minute displacements thanks to traffic.
Remains then tribute and gratitude to our host, who gave us the honor to participate in such an important moment in the trajectory of my master, and left open the invitation for future opportunities.
